Failure Mode Driven Ultrasound Program
Your assets have various failure modes however, are you applying the right technology to those failure modes?
Can one technology do it all? Unfortunately no however, knowing your asset failure modes can determine how and where to apply the right PdM/ CbM technology.
In this fun and interactive workshop we will discuss what failure modes Ultrasound can be applied to in your facility, particularly in rotating equipment, electrical assets and various other mechanical assets. There will be various case studies to demonstrate how ultrasound has increased the mean time between failure in several plants, resulting in quick payback due to cost reduction and avoidance.
Introduction to Metallurgical Failure AnalysisDiagnosing the precise cause of a failure is critical for developing cost-effective solutions that prevent repeat failures. Metallurgical failure analysis is a useful tool for supporting maintenance and reliability efforts by providing details of equipment failures that would not otherwise be available. Failure analysis incorporates laboratory equipment to determine why a component failed and provides details that help lead to making informed reliability decisions. This workshop will introduce the tools and concepts applied during lab-based failure analysis. Case studies will include hands-on review of visual indicators for several damage modes, followed by discussion of the additional information that can be obtained from lab-based analysis. Participants will leave with a better understanding of visual fracture recognition, failure analysis and the role it plays in supporting reliability.
Reliability is Everyone’s ResponsibilityUptime is of course on everyone’s mind, in this day and age. However, more and more, mill managers, maintenance managers and reliability engineers are faced with cut backs, losing their experts to retirement, and more more difficulties to make sure their machines are up and running but also reliable.
The key is of course having more eyes and ears on the floor taking care and monitoring the equipment. The online condition monitoring is a known solution, but the financial implications of that solution does not allow people to monitor everything. We all know, that the smaller pieces of equipment are sometimes as crucial to your running process as some of your bigger and more ‘’important equipment’’. The millwrights, the guys that are there, day in and day out, watching and listening to your equipment, what if they had the tools to also do diagnostic on all your machines, from the simple click of a button ?
